COASTAL PAINTINGS
Seascapes and Sea Themes
I often paint in a series. It's not really an act of organization, but more of a need to explore a particular memory of place or of a person or a certain time in my life. I have a series of seascapes, based on beaches I surfed when young, or seaside towns I lived in. I also have a series of buildings and landscapes of the town of Escondido, I have a series of paintings of Hussong's Cantina, a famous bar I frequented in Ensenada. I have a series based on old black and white photos of my Aunt Mary from the madmen sixties. Most paintings hold something or someone or place dear to me.

As a North County Resident, I have been influenced by the historic Escondido neighborhoods with the original store fronts, the historic cottages, and the atmospheric lighting of the boulevards of Escondido. I have nine paintings of the city. They are hanging at Vincent's and most are for sale.

ABOUT
The Background
The restaurant on Grand Avenue in Old Escondido, Delight of France, purchased seven of my oil paintings. Jacque Aubers, the original owner, bought the first five. I had traveled to France in 2002 with my husband, Marc, and took photos on the trip. I came home and began this series on Paris and Provence. I'm so happy they have a home in this restaurant.
